 La Voce Della Luna  was inspired by an earlier choir Kavisha started in Fremantle in the late 80's called The Joys Of the Women. After leaving Fremantle to live in Melbourne  in 1993 Kavisha started the second choir with the proviso it would last for 8 weeks while singing for the 1996 production play "Emma Celebrazione" at Playbox Theatre by Graham Pitts.That was 13 years ago!

La Voce Della Luna is a grassroots Community choir of approximately 46 women ranging from the ages of 35 years to 75 years old of 1st to 5th generation Italian/Australian women . Based in Melbourne Australia, we have been singing as a group since late 1995. Our Patron Saints are the great italian film director Federico Fellini (we called ourselves after his last film "THE VOICE OF THE MOON" ) and the Black Madonna .

We sing songs from all regions of Italy and they have been handed down from our fathers , mothers and grandmothers and grandfathers and our collective memory .We sing songs of work, protest, love ,weddings ,seductions , lullaby and death. Our songs reflect the tragedy and humour of the human experience and the feelings of our ancestors.Our repetoire ranges from songs from the 15th century to the present 21st .

We often collaborate in Theatre and Music projects with other choirs and theatre companys. Such as PLAY BOX'S "EMMA CELEBRAZIONE"1996,1997 AND THE GASWORKS 1999 THE "LA MURGA" THE COLOUR OF WATER with THE MULTICULTURAL CHOIR IN 2001, " KAN YAMA KAN" AT TRADES HALL WITH ACTORS FOR REFUGEES AND FITZROY LEARNING NETWORK 2002, PLAY BOX SEASON OF "MAVIS GOES TO TIMOR" 2003, BIGWEST'S "SONGNATION "2003

Our choir has an earthy wildness and through singing and our music
we reach out to all peoples and seek that which is the common ground in all
of us whilst celebrating our diversity.
We have two C.Ds of songs called "STEPPING OUT "&"LUNA YARRA" both produced by Paul Petran of A.B.C. Radio National's MUSIC DELI and is available for sale for AUS$30 includes postage. Kavisha has worked as a guest vocal tutor at Victorian College of the Arts and Swinburne, and at many folk festivals and has toured in the schools for MUSICA VIVA . No experience necessary but a desire to jump in and learn and have fun! 

International choral singing course in Casa Gialla ,Le Cetine ,(approximately 20km south of Siena) Umbria celebratory week long singing residency exploring songs of peace and hope from all over the world.It is held in Casa Gialla , ph; +39 0577-799063

Casa Gialla (the yellow house) is an eco friendly artists retreat center run by Paola and Clelia just outside Senna in the hamlet of Le Cetine, Umbria italy.Delicious Traditional country style meals provided by our own delightful cheffess Lauradana ,accomodation in renovated Farmhouse and singing and choral tuition ,and cultural exchange in a caring and beautiful environment. Singing at least 4 hours every day (to say nothing of the singing that goes on after dinner!!!) leading up to a concert for the local village!We will also meet local musicians fro song exchange and travel in the surrounding areas  and sing in ruined San Galgarno Abbey, visit the local Hot Springs and have alot of fun!!!!
